High Purity Ceramic Fibers
Yttria Stabilized Zirconium Oxide Fibers
- Diameter ranges from 13-250 microns
- Made using TOSOH's 3Y or 8Y powder
- Very low silica content
- Very flexible after sintering
- Can be woven, braided, or supplied as bulk tow
- Much less expensive than high purity YTZ fibers
- Use as fuel cell separators, and CMC structural reinforcement
Electrically Conductive Fibers
- ACI's patented conduxite material
- Diameter range 13-250 micron
- Resistance range from 3x10-5 ohm-cm to 1x10-1 ohm-cm
- Very chemically resistant
- Use as battery electrode support to increase life and conductivity
- Make conductive plastics
- Make electrostatic precipitator grids
Examples of Other Ceramic Fibers
- Yttrium aluminum garnet fibers
Excellent as a high temperature composite reinforcement - Lithium aluminate fibers
Fuel cell applications - Low loss / high dielectric fibers
Used in microwave applications - Iron silicide
For stealth applications - Zirconium diboride
Used in very high temperature composites
ACI can make fibers from almost any powdered material using its patented VSSP fiber spinning process. If you would like to try your material as a fiber, please contact us.
