HEAD (www.head.com) has taken their success in the tennis racket market and utilized it in their Chip Line™ of skis. HEAD Intelligence Technology is a proven high-end-standard which very simply makes HEAD skis ride better than others. It proactively adapts to terrain and speed. It allows for more maneuverability on soft snow and on hard-packed slopes provides for a perfect edge grip.
These smart skis implemented with ACI’s product were used by the Austrian Ski Team in the 2006 Olympic Games to win one silver and two gold medals. ACI’s PFCs in the skis use self-powered closed-loop product applications where the system generates electricity from the piezo effect, and then using that electricity with the reverse piezo effect makes the vibrating material go rigid – or stop vibrating.
This technology has been extended to their freestyle boards, taking them to the next level. Intellifiber technology (developed by ACI and HEAD) harnesses board energy by dampening vibrations milliseconds after they start, giving you stiffness only when you need it. It provides a freestyle board that is soft, lively, and playful in the park, but stiff enough to stick hard landings.
